There are numerous ways to serve the Lord through various committees in our church.

Pastor Search Committee - activated according to Church By-Laws Activated at the notice of retirement by Rev. Jim Wall.  The committee shall consist of the following members (positions) in church and also listed is the person presently serving in each position.

Committee Functions

Church Council

The primary function of the Church Council is to meet with the church staff at the end of each quarter to review the church program calendar and set the next quarter's calendar.

Board of Finance

The Board of Finance shall prepare and manage an itemized, all inclusive budget for the following fiscal year.  This budget shall be submitted to the Board of Deacons for its approval and further recommendation to the church for approval.

Personnel Committee

The Personal Committee shall be responsible for monitoring and evaluating job performance of all staff members.  Duties of the committee include: annual performance reviews with each staff member, regular reports to the Board of Deacons concerning personnel issues, and recommendations to the Board of Finance concerning job performance as it relates to salary considerations.

Nominating Committee

The nominating committee will recommend to the Church all of the church leadership positions which are to be held by volunteers from within the church body.

Lord's Supper: Responsible for all aspects of preparing the bread and juice for serving; cleaning up afterwards, and properly storing the equipment.

Transportation: Responsible for appropriate maintenance and repair of the church van--interior, exterior, and mechanical.

Heritag.0++e Room: In charge for the room--items for display, the displays, furnishings, cleaning, and for opening the room for visitors and for locking it afterwards.

Benevolence: Responsible for all aspects of serving a meal to the family of a deceased church member on the day of the funeral.

Bulletin Boards: Responsible for keeping the bulletin boards in the three halls of the education wing decorated attractively and appropriately.

Church Historian: Responsible for keeping appropriate records of important events in our church's activities and for writing updates on the history as needed.  These records are in addition to the records of routine business kept by the Church Secretary and/or Church Clerk.

Church Hostesses: Responsible for the attractive and appropriate serving of food and drinks on buffet tables and for clean-up afterwards when a church meal or refreshments are served, and when called on for special occasions.

Sanctuary Flowers: Responsible for displaying attractive and appropriate flowers and/or centers of interest in the sanctuary every Sunday morning for worship services and for other special occasions as requested.

House and Grounds: Responsible for general upkeep and repairs necessary to keep the church building and its grounds safe attractive.

Remodeling: Responsible for assessing the condition of the church's furnishings and proposing to the Board of Finance remodeling and refurbishing needs as appropriate to maintain an attractive and inviting appearance.

Baptismal: Assist the baptismal candidates with process of baptism; leave the dressing areas clean and neat; see that the vestments are ready for future use.

Homecoming: Responsible for submitting pertinent information to the local media at the proper times and seeing that invitations are sent to former members and special guests.

Bible Study Coordinators: Responsible for seeing that the Fellowship Hall is properly set up for Sunday evening Bible Study and for distributing handouts.

Children's Committee:  Reviews programming for children's ministries, pre-school through fifth grade, and assists in planning and recommending programs and procedures. 

Board of Deacons:  The deacons shall at all times regard themselves as servants of the church.  The task of the deacon is to serve with the pastor and staff in performing pastoral ministry, such as:  proclaiming the gospel to believers and unbelievers, care for church members and other persons in the community, lead the church to engage in a fellowship of worship, witness education ministry and application of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Messengers to Sandy Creek  Baptist Association:  Shall represent First Baptist Church at all the meetings of the executive board and the association.  They have the right to vote their conscience in all matters pertaining to the association.

Messengers to N. C. Baptist State and SBC:  Shall represent First Baptist Church at all meetings of the NCBS of N.C. and the SBC.  They have the right as messengers to vote their conscience in all matters pertaining to these conventions.

Outreach Workers:  Shall organize ,lead and implement a program of outreach, evangelism and visitation throughout the year on a regular basis in conjunction with their Sunday school class.

Board of Trustees:  Responsible for the legal affairs of the church including all church property and the execution of contracts, deeds, mortgages or other documents when authorized by the church.

Ushers:  The Ushers assist the congregation at all regular and specially scheduled services.  Their purpose is to create an atmosphere of genuine welcome and worship for all attending the services.

Women's Missionary Union:

Senior Adult Advisory Committee:  Provides leadership in the effort to develop a sense of community and belonging among our senior citizens (age 60 and up)
