Report from Church Meeting

On Sunday, July 13th, 2008 an ice cream social was held in the fellowship hall. The purpose of the meeting was a information sharing time for members concerning the search for a pastor. Rev. Gordon West, Associational Missionary of the Sandy Creek Association, was with us to discuss the process of the Pastor Search Committee. The meeting was moderated by Judy Morris, Chairman of the Board of Deacons. Members of the Interim Pastor Search Committee and the Pastor Search Committee were available to give updates and information. There was a time provided for questions. Two surveys were given to members present. One survey gathered information on what attributes members would like to see in a new pastor and one gathered information to show a potential applicant the make-up of our congregation. These same surveys will be available on Sunday July 20th and at the church office. Ice cream was made by members of the church and enjoyed by all those present.

Results of Church Conference

A Church Conference was held following the worship service on Sunday, June 15, 2008. The church rejected calling Dr. Thomas Jackson as our Interim Pastor.

The church voted to approve the Pastor Search Committee consisting of: Judy Morris (Chairperson of Deacons); Charles Marsh (Sunday School Director); Ronnie Brookbank (Personnel Committee); Diane Whitehead (WMU Representative); Bill Hamilton (Finance Committee Chairman); Brian Martin (Resident Member); Doug Riggs (Resident Member); and Linda McMasters (Alternate).

Please be in prayer for this committee as they seek God's will in finding a new pastor.

June 1st was the last Sunday for Rev. Jim Wall as pastor of First Baptist Church. The members of First Baptist Church and all Jim's friends wish him and Sarah Jo much joy, happiness, and good health in their new life as retirees.
